Don Vernon has had a fascination with the west and the people who worked
hard to bring about the settlement of America since a child.
He was born and raised in Northern Oklahoma just a few miles from the
legendary Chisolm Trail that led North to Witchita and Dodge City, Kansas.
After two years in the U.S.Army, he returned home to college and a
major in Art that led to Advertising Design and illustration.
While earning a salary for himself, his wife Sam and son Rion, he always
came back to Western Art and Wildlife painting in his spare time.
Over the years, Western Art, Wildlife Art and NativeAmerican Art became
his full-time passion and vocation. His work is collected internationally,
and has been purchased by collectors and celebrities alike, including
Burt Reynolds, Tipi Hedron, the late Doug McClure and Kent and Susan
McCray who are the producers of “Little House”.
He lives and works now in Canyon Country, just north of Los Angeles.
His Western Artwork plus his stunning Native American Artwork and Wildlife
Artwork are shown in local galleries and throughout the state.
He is fortunate and honored to be invited back year after year to be
a part of the the Cattlemen’s Association Annual Show and Sale
in Paso Robles, held each April.
His work, “The Prairie Poet” was purchased for the first
Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival held in Santa Clarita, and is involved
in the “Quick Draw” exhibitions.
